China, India agree to ease tensions at disputed border

India's and China's foreign ministers have agreed to "quickly disengage" from stand-off at the disputed Himalayan border.

- The two foreign ministers met at the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Moscow.
- In the joint statement, Wang Yi and S. Jaishankar claim that the current situation at the border is 'not in the interest of either side'.
- 'The border troops of both sides should continue their dialogue, quickly disengage, maintain proper distance', the statement says.
- Both India and China often accuse each other of violating their borders - clashes have sometimes been deadly.
- 20 Indian soldiers were killed recently in a skirmish with Chineses forces.
