The Gist

The tech giant will fund 100,000 online certification scholarships for US workers. 

The List

  • The initiative aims to help American workers get jobs in the growing tech industry. 
  • Certification will be offered for jobs such as User Experience Design, Data Analytics, and Project Management. 
  • The courses are created and taught by Google employees and no degree is required to enroll. 
  • They will last 3-6 months and be considered equivalent to a 4-year degree for related roles at Google. 
  • Google will also donate 10 million to similar initiatives which aim to help women and underrepresented groups build valuable skills in an increasingly technological economy.
