The Gist

The new feature is one of Instagram's two 'anti bullying' initiatives.

The List

  • Users who post comments that were repeatedly reported by others will also be given a warning when they try to post new comments.
  • According to Instagram, this is to "let people take a moment to step back and reflect on their words" and the potential consequences of their comment.
  • Hidden comments will still be viewable by clicking on the "View Hidden Comments" button on an Instagram post.
  • Earlier this year, dozens of companies boycotted parent company Facebook as part of the Stop Hate For Profit campaign which criticized the platform's inaction against hate and misinformation.
