The announcement comes after they received dozens of reports that their doorbells were catching fire.

  • Ring is an Amazon subsidiary that builds smart doorbell devices. 
  • It is recalling over 350 000 units of its second generation doorbells sold to customers in the United States and Canada. 
  • More than 30 people have reported their Ring doorbells spontaneously catching fire.
  • Ring has confirmed that this is due to a device error that causes its battery to overheat.
