The Gist

The alleged hacker is a 17-year-old with a history of Minecraft and Twitter scams.

The List

  • Floridian Graham Clark is the prime suspect behind the Twitter hack that took place on July 15th and affected over 100 high profile accounts including Elon Musk and Bill Gates.
  • He used the accounts to send tweets promising to double the Bitcoin of those who send the cryptocurrency to his personal address.
  • Over $100,000 of Bitcoin was stolen.
  • Clark was able to gain access to Twitter's "God mode" by manipulating Twitter employees, ultimately being able to infiltrate their private Slack work platform and even bypass 2-factor authentication using employee information.
  • Clark, who has gathered over 400 Bitcoin from his scams, still has around 300 Bitcoin in his possession worth over $3.4 million.
  • It is expected he will use part of those holdings to pay for his bail of $725,000.
  • Two other accomplices have been identified but have not been named.
